Turkish Cooking Class Picnic...

Dear Turkish Cooking Class Followers, as we came to end of another semester of Turkish Cooking Class, we invite you to the End Of Summer Barbeque party on Saturday, May 17th at 11.00am to 3.00pm.
Come enjoy a delicious sampling of Turkish cuisine (including Turkish kebabs!) and friendly conversation of the cooking class spring picnic.
Attendance to the party is free and you are very welcome to bring your family and friends. Please kindly RSVP

Turkish Cooking Class #4 Ingredients

1. Stuffed Zuccini (Kayik Kabak)

5 fresh zuccini
1 chicken breast
1 red bell pepper
1 onion, shredded
2 carrots
2 tbsp tomato paste
4 tbsp olive oil
Salt, black and red pepper

2. Red Lentil Kofte (Mercemek Koftesi)

1.5 cup red lentils
1 cup fine bulgur
1 onion, chopped
1/2 cup olive oil
1 tbsp pepper paste
1 tbsp tomato paste
1 bunch plain parsley, chopped
2 green onions
Salt, cumin

3. Babaganoush (Babaganus)

1 large egglant
4-5 tbsp tahini
2-3 tbsp yogurt
2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
juice of 1/2 lemon
1 large clove of garlic (mushed)
Salt, pepper

4. Kanafeh/Sweek Cheese Pastry (Kunefe)

1/2 packed Kadayifi
1 stick butter
5 sticks mozarella cheese

Syrup:
1 cup sugar
1 cup water

Turkish Cooking Class #4

This week menu:
-Stuffed Zucchini (kayik kabak)

-Babaganoush (babaganus)
-Kanafeh/Sweet Cheese Pastry (Kunefe)

Last Cooking Class before summer break...Saturday from 5pm to 8pm ( 5/10). And after next week we will have picnic...
Classes are $15 per person..

Joins us for a fun class, hands on or off and a dinner with friends! All levels are welcome.

Turkish Cooking Class #3 Ingredients

  1. Islim Kebab
    4 long eggplants
    1 lb ground meat
    1 egg
    1 onion, chopped
    ½ cup bread crumbs
    1 tsp baking powder
    black pepper, cumin, salt, mint, garlic powder for dressing
              Sauce:
              2 tbsp tomato paste
              3 tbsp olive oil
              salt
              tomatoes, bell pepper on toothpicks for decoration
  1. Puff Pastry (Borek)
    1 package of puff pastry
    1 package (250 gr) egg pasta
    1 stick melted butter
    3 eggs
    1 cup milk
    1.5 cup feta cheese
    For the top:
    1 egg yolk
    1 tbsp yogurt
    1 tsp vegetable oil
  2. White Bean Salad (Piaz)
    2 cans of white beans
    1 medium-sized onion, cut in rings
    1 bunch chopped parsley
    2 tomatoes, chopped
    ½ red bell pepper, chopped
    olive oil, salt, lemon juice, sumac and olives for dressing
  3. Semolina Truffles (Irmik Toplari)
    3 cups milk
    7 tbsp semolina wheat
    7 tbsp sugar
    Whipped cream (2.6 oz)
    Coconut powder and almonds for decoration

The 2nd of Turkish Cooking Classes was held on  April 26th, Saturday, at 5 pm. at ATFA. We had:
-Baked Cabbage with Ground Meat (Fırında Kıymalı Lahana)
-Feta Cheese Stuffed Roasted Red Pepper (Peynirli Kırmızı Biber Sarma)
-Toasted Bread Dessert (Etimek Tatlısı)
-Turkish Pastry With Different Stuff (easy way with dinner roll) (Pogaca)

Guests enjoyed having hands-on experience with making dishes.
